Installing Linux on your Mac device to run your node will make it a lot easier to follow manuals and get support. It is also a lot more bug-proof so we recommend to replace Mac OS with Linux Ubuntu to run your LUKSO node.
Download Linux Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
Make a bootable USB stick with Balena Etcher
Turn of boot-security
Restart your Mac and turn of boot-security, you need to do this to enable your Mac to start up from the bootable USB you just made.
Plug the USB with the Linux Desktop ISO in your mac and restart it.
When you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Option key.
Holding that key gives you access to Mac OS Startup Manager. Once the Startup Manager screen appears, release the Option key. The utility will look for any available drives that include bootable content.
Select the bootable USB with your arrows and press enter
Your Mac will launch the Linux installer
Choose for a minimun instalation and don’t add third party software.
Delete and overwrite all disks
Warning: This will delete all data on your Mac
A common error when you are replacing Mac OS for Linux is the “Grub error”
Here is a video how to fix this error:
Optional: re-install Mac OS
If you ever want to re-install Mac OS this is very easy to do with the in your Mac build in internet recovery (yes, this also works when you have installed Linux)
